- ➤ The North Dakota Santa Run has been postponed from today to Saturday, Dec. 20 due to extreme cold that could affect runner safety. Race activities, including street closures and adjusted road routes, will begin at 4:15 p.m. on Main St. — next to Dykshoorn Park — to support Hope Manor – Sober Living Homes. KX News
- ➤ Dakota Cat Café will open its new cat lounge from Dec. 16 to 21, where visitors can meet kittens Dobby and Boo from a six-kitten litter while enjoying coffee in a feline-free area (for those with allergies). Julie Schirado and Ashley Kneavel expressed excitement ahead of the event. KX News

- ➤ Local retailers may soon round cash prices to the nearest nickel after the US stops printing pennies, affecting shoppers during the busy holiday season. Jennifer Wilson (Kirkwood Mall general manager) said a few national tenants have already updated their store policies. KX News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Kevin Klipfel will retire from his role as executive director at Bismarck Parks and Recreation District on June 1 after nearly 24 years with the district (his retirement will be discussed at the December 18 Board of Park Commissioners meeting). KX News
- ➤ State officials launched North Dakota's seven-week Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign Friday, Dec. 12 to promote safe holiday travel as drivers are urged to plan rideshare options and designate sober drivers; the campaign runs through Jan. 31. KX News
- ➤ Senator John Hoeven and Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak have been announced as speakers at the North Dakota Farmers Union convention at the Bismarck Convention Center, which began Friday and runs through today. Hoeven will discuss bridge payments and market expansion, while Fedorchak will address market access and the aid package. KX News
- ➤ State officials and business groups in North Dakota praised a federal proposal on Friday that limits control over wetlands, though local environmental groups warned that it could reduce water quality and hurt wildlife. Bismarck Tribune
