CULTURE NEWS

  • Residents in Missouri Slope enjoyed a surprise visit from tribute band Hairball Saturday as the band performed an acoustic set and held a meet-and-greet at a local nursing home.  KFYR-TV

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Farmers reacted to a $400 million agriculture relief loan package Governor Kelly Armstrong rolled out through the Bank of North Dakota to help with low prices, high input costs, and storm damage. Local producer Christie Jaeger said the loans help with refinancing debt, yet few have fully used them.  KFYR-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • North Dakota State School Superintendent Levi Bachmeier announced updated accountability reports for the school year 24 to 25, showing an 84% graduation rate (a 2% overall increase and a 7% boost for Native American students) along with small changes in proficiency scores in English, math, and science.  KX News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Heaven’s Helpers Soup Cafe installed solar panels with help from a Chamber group a few years ago, cutting its electric bill by over $500 monthly and saving an extra $300 during summer peak hours. Team Solar hopes to inspire local businesses to use renewable energy.  KFYR-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • ND Game and Fish Department has set ice thickness recommendations (4 inches for walking, 6 to 8 for snowmobiles, 12 for small cars, and up to 15 for pickups) to help ice fishers and hunters stay safe. They advise checking ice every 100 to 150 feet and carrying safety gear.  KFYR-TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • North Dakota State lost its first football game in over a year after Illinois State scored a last-minute touchdown, falling 29-28 in a season-ending contest in Bismarck.  KFYR-TV
  • North Dakota lost 31-13 to Tarleton State in the second round of the FCS Championship, ending coach Eric Schmidt's first season with a heavy defeat. The team struggled with turnovers, third downs, and possession while Sawyer Seidl scored twice.  KFYR-TV
