- ➤ Max senior Maycie Talbott was named this week's ND Petroleum Foundation Teen of the Week for her positive community impact. The honor recognizes her efforts to help others and sets a model for youth in Bismarck. Bismarck Tribune

- ➤ Huckleberry House is fighting eviction from its landlord and will appear in court Friday, Dec. 5 to avert closure (after reduced parking during DOT repairs on nearby Grant Marsh Bridge hurt customer visits). KFYR-TV
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Ray Iverson, a 70-year-old local, has turned the historic Max Museum on Main Street into a Christmas wonderland with over 1,000 festive items. The museum is open now until mid-January from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. KFYR-TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Two sixth graders at Mandan Middle School raised over $1,100 by hosting a hat day and Bistro Buddies fundraiser to help pay for teacher Tammy Kelly’s husband's cancer care (an effort that reflects community kindness). KX News
- ➤ North Dakota State University, Bismarck State College and Valley City State University search for new presidents as NDUS works to fill vacancies while NDSU remains led by president David Cook (he will stay until Feb. 2026). VCSU and BSC saw record enrollments and plan an interim appointment discussion on Dec. 4. KX News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The DEA launched its Fentanyl Free America initiative in October to cut off the flow of fentanyl by seizing pills, powders, and pill presses in ND and five other states. Officials say the campaign focuses on curbing domestic pill production & drug trafficking. KX News
- ➤ NDGF is seeking info on a dead buck found near Lincoln Road Sunday morning. Today, Gov. Armstrong lit the state Capitol tree with ornaments from across the state as Christmas nears, and Minot City Council approved over $270K for a roundabout at 6th and 2nd to improve traffic flow. KX News
- ➤ North Dakota ag leaders urge affected farmers to file a claim after Hansen-Mueller filed for bankruptcy & state funds became inaccessible. Farmers should check for a court notice for steps to recover money owed. KFYR-TV
- ➤ The ND Forest Service is offering a grant to rural fire departments serving 10,000 or less (up to $15,000 for gear or $25,000 for a vehicle with a 50-50 match). Applications remain open until March 6. KFYR-TV
- ➤ Annie Hojian was named City Star of the Month for her work in Building Inspections & Planning; she joined in July 2024 and supports residents by processing permits, scheduling inspections, and providing friendly service at the front counter. City of Bismarck
- ➤ A North Dakota district court ruled in favor of landowners who challenged a state law that approved Summit Pipeline’s permit without proper compensation (the project received consent from 92% of landowners), leaving next steps uncertain as another court case on permit legality awaits a ruling. - ➤ Century student Abby Fosland reached 1,000 assists in her volleyball tournament a week ago and is now preparing for her final basketball season while set to join UMary for college ball—her Patriots will begin their season next week on a road trip to Wyoming. KFYR-TV
- ➤ The Bismarck Demons broke a three-season losing streak to the Century Patriots with a win decided in a shootout on Tuesday, where standout goalie Owen Deeter stopped every shot during overtime (boosting hope for the team) as they prepare to face Hazen-Beulah on Thursday. KFYR-TV
