- ➤ This week, Operation Christmas Child collected donated shoeboxes at Grace Point Church to help children in need around the world — the project began in 1993 by Samaritan’s Purse, and one family in Dickinson dropped off 200 boxes to support the holiday effort. KX News
- ➤ On November 19, Travis Bateman from Badlands Search—Rescue offered winter driving safety tips on Good Day Dakota, advising drivers to keep proper items in their car and handle snow and ice safely — and he explained what actions to avoid if stranded. KX News

- ➤ Century High senior Alexis Thompson is named this week's North Dakota Petroleum Foundation Teen of the Week + she turns challenges into triumphs + her award highlights her resilience. Bismarck Tribune
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians will hold a one-month coyote incentive hunt on tribal land from November 22 to December 22 to lower predators that threaten whitetail fawns, upland birds and small game. Hunters—who are TMBCI tribal members or approved nonmembers—must register with the TMBCI Department of Natural Resources, follow safety and wildlife rules and submit proof of each harvest to earn $15 per verified coyote, with a limit of 20 per person if needed. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Local officials held a meeting on Tuesday night to discuss a home rule charter amendment that would replace special assessments with a new street utility fee for road repairs+ several residents questioned the change. Community groups marked Homelessness and Hunger Awareness Week with a walk in the community while the Native Heritage Showcase is set for Friday with traditional food crawls and cultural performances. - ➤ The City of Bismarck announced lane reductions that began November 19 at Washington Street and Front Avenue/Memorial Highway for a traffic signal replacement—using a 4-way stop during the change that lasted two weeks; a lane reduction at 7th Street and Rosser Avenue due to storm sewer work began yesterday and will continue through the week. - ➤ Missouri Slope Areawide United Way kicked off its annual government workers campaign at the Capitol on Wednesday afternoon when Governor Kelly Armstrong and the first lady explained how employee contributions aid programs like the Center for Opportunity — Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and 35 partner agencies that support services for the homeless. The campaign now encourages the public to donate and volunteer. KFYR-TV
- ➤ After the government shutdown ended, Mandan Fire Department received a SAFER grant of over $1.6 million that will allow it to hire six full time firefighters. Fire Chief Mitch Bitz said the department will begin hiring soon to have the openings filled by March 2026. KX News

- ➤ The South Prairie-Max Royals won the regional title last Thursday and are now preparing for the Division A State Tournament. They will face the Hazen Bison today at 3 p.m. at (Bismarck Event Center) and the winner will meet either Valley City or Thompson in the semifinal on Friday. KX News
