- ➤ A North Dakota state trooper, Tom Steenstrup, answered a crash call on Wednesday when a driver fled and he rescued a scared puppy left behind in the car—Crash Assistance volunteers later took the pup home as investigators work on charges. KFYR-TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Kirsten Baesler, North Dakota's top education official, will leave her job toward the end of November to join the US education department. She has led the state's public schools for more than 10 years. Bismarck Tribune
- ➤ The North Dakota Department of Agriculture invites K-12 public schools to apply for a grant that provides a complete hydroponic garden system for STEM lessons and local food access. Schools must submit applications electronically by Dec. 8 (about 50 systems available) and will be notified by Dec. 15 with delivery set for early January. KX News

- ➤ State aviation officials said airport operations will return to normal in the coming week + the shutdown ended late Wednesday. Executive director Kyle Wanner added that some delays + cancellations may occur as travel picks up ahead of Thanksgiving. KFYR-TV

- ➤ Sanford Health opened new gastroenterology suites in its renovated same-day surgery center on Main Street — the clinic will begin accepting patients for colonoscopies and rectal screenings on November 18. Jackie Farland said the update is meant to help catch colorectal issues early. KFYR-TV
