COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ A group of women from Professional Women in Building and the Bismarck Cancer Center re-made patient apartments for cancer patients—donating funds and volunteer labor to finish the work in 10 days after a 6-month planning phase—providing a fresh space for treatment. KX News
- ➤ The North Dakota Farmers Union donated $500k to the Great Plains Food Bank to support its Harvesting Hope Campaign and help improve food access for many residents. The food bank is partnering with MHA Nation to host a food drive starting today + about 28,000 locals rely on SNAP benefits for their meals. KX News
- ➤ Firefighters contained a vehicle fire in Williston just before 2:40 p.m. Tuesday that briefly spread to a nearby house and resulted in one vehicle destroyed and another damaged with no injuries reported. The Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation will host a food drive in New Town starting tomorrow at 3 p.m. to distribute 40,000 pounds of food to SNAP families—volunteers earlier set up 120 American flags along State Street as part of the Avenue of Flags project. - ➤ The Northern Lights lit up Peace Garden State last night with over 1,700 photos submitted as a rare G5 geomagnetic storm—the highest rating and the first since May—spread the glow across the sky. Meteorologists said tonight will give viewers another chance to enjoy the display. KX News

- ➤ The City of Bismarck announced yesterday that Washington Street between Front Avenue and Sweet Avenue will have reduced lanes in each direction—repairs are underway for a water main break. The change will last about one week with no detour provided. KX News
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Jason Harris, the current women's basketball coach, will become the new athletic director at BSC in January after Myron Schulz retires; he is the fifth athletic director in the program's history (a change that comes as the college plans to return football in 2027). KFYR-TV
- ➤ Sprinter Zayden Horne and hurdler Bennet Lonn signed with North Dakota State. Lonn won first place at state in the 300-meter hurdles and Horne, who was injured before the meet, set an unofficial record in the 100-meter dash last season — both athletes look forward to competing on campus. - ➤ The Century Patriots have had several of their student-athletes sign with college teams in football, volleyball, and boys basketball, with the football team making its 9th Dakota Bowl appearance in 15 years and the volleyball and basketball teams holding state champion titles. Star players like Sylvia Taylor, Alexis Heinle, and Abby Fosland are set to compete at the next level with some rivals promising exciting matchups—further paving the way for Century’s strong sports tradition. - ➤ TGU forward Sage Hanson signed his letter of intent on Wednesday to join the University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks next fall—he is TGU Granville’s first athlete to sign with a Division 1 basketball program. KX News
