- ➤ Dream Center Bismarck is launching an Emergency Food Drive at 1805 Park Avenue, accepting non-perishable food donations Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. as SNAP benefits may pause if the government shutdown continues into November—financial gifts help buy meals at lower prices to support low-income households at risk. - ➤ A community-led renovation project is underway to upgrade two BCC apartments for patients led by Bismarck-Mandan Professional Women in Building. Demolition was completed on October 15 and local donors plus businesses helped improve four bedrooms, two kitchens, and two living rooms as the project prepares for an open house on Tuesday, November 4 from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. — at 804 E Ave B. - ➤ A state audit of Dakota College at Bottineau found many financial transactions were undocumented over the last two years. A college official said they will train with Minot State University next month—preventing similar issues until the next state audit in 2027. KX News

- ➤ The Girl Scouts will host the annual BIG Event on Nov. 1 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Joann Hetzel Memorial 4-H Building in Bismarck where children in kindergarten through 12th grade can explore hands-on STEM experiments. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Palmer amaranth—an invasive weed—was found on the edge of a wheat field in Divide County and DNA tests confirmed its species as officials managed and monitored the plant. Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring asked residents to report any suspect plants to local weed officers because the weed can spread quickly through seeds and equipment. KX News

- ➤ Terry Hornbuckle, a 65-year-old disabled widow living on Social Security, fears losing SNAP benefits when federal food aid pauses in November amid a government shutdown. Governor Armstrong will announce a plan today—aimed at bridging the food aid gap—while details remain pending. KFYR-TV
