- ➤ 3 Farm Daughters, a North Dakota company founded by sisters Mollie, Annie and Grace Ficocello, saw their high-fiber pasta hit 116 Target stores in California last week after being chosen for Target's Takeoff accelerator program—this program helps small businesses break into bigger retail. The pasta, made with wheat from their family farm and local growers, is available online and may soon appear on local shelves. KX News
- ➤ Marketplace Foods has recalled its Taco Dip — the recall covers dips with a package date of October 21 and a sell by date of October 28 — after a foreign object was found in one container, and customers can return the product for a full refund at any Marketplace Foods store. KX News

- ➤ In 1964 one of the Thueringer brothers from rural North Dakota enlisted in the Army and his siblings followed by serving in Vietnam as KX News interviewed four of the five brothers who shared how the war still affects them today. Fifty years later all five remain alive with three living close together—meeting daily for coffee and recalling their service and its impact. KX News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources said oil prices jumped about five dollars after sanctions on Russian companies, but Director Nathan Anderson said global oversupply—rather than the sanctions—will keep the increase short-term. He expects the Bakken market to return to normal soon. KFYR-TV
- ➤ Tribal leaders at the MHA Nation Emergency Operations Center are urging members to complete a three-minute confidential survey to shape an updated hazard mitigation plan approved by FEMA—fewer than 40 responses have been received from over 12,000 enrolled members since the survey launched in April. - ➤ FSA offices in North Dakota partially reopened on Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with limited staffing after the government shutdown—farmers can drop off loan applications and payments, although full processing remains pending. KX News
- ➤ ND Farmers Union President Mark Watne called on the Congressional delegation to help farmers tackle long-term challenges due to tariffs on soybeans and rising beef imports from Argentina. - ➤ Bismarck plans to build its newest fire station in the southwest and residents near the site at Burleigh Avenue and Calypso Drive are upset because it is just 180 feet from some homes—local voices say they were not given enough notice. The city chose this location to cut emergency response times and the station will be operational by Fall. KFYR-TV

- ➤ Bowman County Boys Cross Country won their sixth straight Class B state title at the meet as three Bulldogs finished in the top five and Northern Cass’ Owen Johnson made history by winning the individual title in 15:44.4+ Hillsboro/Central Valley repeated as team champions on the girls side, with Claire Grinde winning at 18:29.2. - ➤ The North Dakota high school football playoffs run every Friday and Saturday from the fourth week in October until November 14—ending with Dakota Bowl XXIII at the Fargo Dome. The playoffs include both Class A and 9-Man brackets with teams ranging from undefeated leaders to first-time playoff contenders—each seeking a strong finish to the season. KFYR-TV
