- ➤ On Tuesday, oil and gas companies bid more than $6.6 million for federal land offered for lease despite the government shutdown. The bid covered four parcels totaling 2,068 acres with the highest per-acre bid of $3,611 from among 16 bidders. KX News

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The state will launch its Click It or Ticket seat belt campaign on November 1 to lower crash fatalities among unbuckled drivers and passengers, and it will run until December 12. Officials say the effort follows lessons learned from earlier initiatives such as 665 distracted driving citations in September — a reminder during National Teen Driver Safety Week that 44 teen lives were lost over the past five years.
