GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Bismarck has launched a free leaf pickup service for residents that will run on scheduled garbage days during October 20-23 and October 27-30—residents must store leaves in garbage containers or compostable paper bags for collection. The city will add an extra truck to bring the leaves to compost, reducing landfill waste. KFYR-TV
- ➤ The new Bismarck Rural fire station has opened with 35 full- and part-time firefighters and features a kitchen, exercise area, and sleeping rooms. The facility will take time to be fully staffed each day as American Rescue Plan funds from the Burleigh County Commission (a $3.2 million project) aim to reduce response times during winter blizzards and dry days.
