- ➤ Western North Dakota Honor Flight is doubling trips to Washington, D.C. to save money by having one plane complete back-to-back rides while prioritizing Vietnam veterans. A flight that left Bismarck on Sunday morning will return tonight—another group is set to depart Tuesday and come back Wednesday. KFYR-TV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The U.S. Department of Agriculture ended future Household Food Security Reports—describing them as redundant and politicized. A final report from September noted that North Dakota had lower rates of food insecurity than the national average from 2021 to 2023 although the rate slightly increased compared to 2018–2020. - ➤ The Greater North Dakota Chamber will host its annual Policy Summit at Bismarck State College on Tuesday, September 23, starting at 9:15 a.m.—speakers from NDGOP, ND DNPL and Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak will address issues from healthcare to climate change. Virtual and in-person attendance will be available to reach a broad audience. KX News
- ➤ North Dakota lawmakers are looking into nuclear power and might propose new legislation in 2027. Energy officials say it will be tough to build small modular reactors because it takes a long time to get permits and costs billions—private companies may need government help. KFYR-TV
- ➤ North Dakota congresswoman Julie Fedorchak introduced H.R. 3062 to streamline permitting for cross-border energy projects, and the bill passed the House by a 224—203 vote with bipartisan support—before it now awaits a Senate hearing. KX News
- ➤ Today the U.S. House passed a bill to ease permitting for energy projects that cross state and national borders in a 224–203 vote. Rep. Julie Fedorchak said the measure will strengthen energy security and support good-paying jobs, and the bill will move to the Senate. KFYR-TV
