COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Bismarck Out of the Darkness Walk took place on Sunday at the Capitol to honor Suicide Awareness Month; Monica Hannan served as the speaker while booths provided mental health resources and a bead ceremony marked personal losses. The event recognized those affected by suicide and offered community support.  KFYR-TV

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Heavy rain on Sunday caused flooding in Bismarck—water covered areas including south of Costco, the Capitol construction zone, South 7th St. underpass and South Washington St.  KFYR-TV

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The North Dakota Department of Commerce announced it will relaunch the Innovate ND program to provide up to $50,000 for local startup businesses. Applications are open until October 2—entrepreneurs must have a founder residing in North Dakota and the business must be headquartered in the state.  KX News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, the USDA announced an extra $1 billion disaster relief package for livestock producers to offset increased feed costs from floods and wildfires in 2023 and 2024 — applications open until October 31. Producers in affected counties such as Bowman, Golden Valley, McKenzie, McLean, Oliver, Sioux, and Williams — Senator John Hoeven praised the plan.  KX News

HEALTH NEWS

  • ND Health and Human Services is asking for public comment on a Medicaid waiver that will expand access to in-home and community-based services for people with disabilities, including host homes for youth with developmental challenges. Tina Bay said comments, which will be accepted through September 28, will help adjust the program to better meet community needs.  KFYR-TV
