- ➤ Samuel McQuade Jr, former boss at McQuade Distributing, died on September 5—he was known for the annual McQuade Charity Softball Tournament that raised over $2 million in its 50-year history. His family asked people to donate to McQuade Softball Charities in lieu of flowers. KX News

- ➤ North Dakota Game and Fish surveyed pheasant numbers in July and August and found a 3% drop from last year while the statewide count remains 48% above the ten-year average. Severe weather caused Sharptail Grouse and Partridge numbers to fall sharply — grouse dropped 38% and partridge 26% — with hunting set to begin on September 13 for grouse and partridge and October 11 for pheasant.
