- ➤ The Bismarck Historical Society will host a free public program on the history of Belle Mehus Auditorium on Sept. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at 201 N 6th Street—presenters Susan Lundberg and Stephanie Delmore will guide the talk while Bismarck Event Center staff will lead a tour afterward. KX News

- ➤ North Dakota’s manufacturing sector expanded modestly in August with the Business Conditions Index at 51.7, marking growth for the 14th consecutive month. Production rose to 53.6 and exports reached $3.1 billion in the first half of 2025—despite lower new orders and ongoing labor challenges. KX News

- ➤ On Tuesday, the Bismarck-Burleigh Commissions Committee reviewed a preliminary map showing rural and transitional areas that might be removed from the extraterritorial area to better focus urban service area growth — no official changes were made and a follow-up meeting is planned later this month. Bismarck Tribune
- ➤ Campaign Legal Center asked the Supreme Court to hear a case that claims North Dakota’s 2021 legislative map was racially gerrymandered to split Native votes and weaken their power. A federal judge ruled for the Native groups in November and an appeals court later said individuals may not have the right to sue & Secretary of State Michael Howe’s office did not comment. KX News
- ➤ North 4th Street was closed between East Avenue A and East Avenue B on Wednesday when city crews removed a boulevard tree, finishing by noon—drivers were advised to use alternate routes. KX News
- ➤ The North Dakota Department of Transportation will begin fall mowing along state highways mid-September to reduce winter snow drifting—landowners planning to mow non-interstate ditches for hay should do so soon—and private crews cannot mow medians on four-lane highways. KX News

- ➤ The Bismarck Cancer Center Foundation will host its annual Rummage for a Reason fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 6 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot at 1906 E. Broadway Ave. Participants pay $10 per bag (larger items are priced separately) with proceeds going to services that help patients with housing, transportation and wellness programs. KX News
