  • Registration is open for local firefighters+police officers and first responders who will join the National Fallen Firefighters 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb in Mandan later this year to honor those lost. The event offers a meaningful way to remember fallen heroes and strengthen community bonds.  Bismarck Tribune
  • Valeri Entzel Memorial Park opened Sunday in Morton County to honor a beloved Mandan community member whose final wish was to create an outdoor space for families. Community members attended the dedication to celebrate her life after she passed in 2022.  KFYR-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • On (Aug. 11), Stacker released a list of North Dakota’s highest-rated museums based on Tripadvisor reviews; the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck received a 4.7 rating (660 reviews), marking high local interest. The ranking also features museums from Jamestown, Fargo, and other cities across the state.  KX News
  • The Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library is hosting a Silent Reading Party on the Library Labyrinth on the North Lawn on August 28 and September 16 from 6 to 7:30 p.m., where participants can bring their own books or check one out. If the weather does not cooperate, the event will move to the Missouri River Room—ensuring a quiet outdoor space for all book lovers.  KX News
  • North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum will continue its Little Kids, Big World series in September. The museum will host 30-minute interactive programs for toddlers and preschoolers titled Apples, Hispanic, Vikings and Fall at 10 a.m. at 612 E Boulevard Ave in Bismarck.  KX News

  • Stacker compiled gas price statistics for North Dakota from August 18 showing regular gas at $2.90 with a 0.3% week increase and a 13.7% year drop while diesel remained at $3.43 with no weekly change. In Bismarck gas prices reached $2.99—above other metro levels—and the report compares these trends with prices in other states.  KX News

  • North Dakota Aeronautics Commission official Kyle Wanner said that even after reports of near-misses, fatal crashes, and close calls this year, careful safety measures keep air travel the safest way to travel — airports saw record high flyer numbers in July.  KFYR-TV

  • Bismarck resident Edna Moser celebrated her 105th birthday on Sunday — she credited her long life to a clean lifestyle and enjoyed time with her grandkids and great-grandkids.  KFYR-TV
  • Stacker used Yelp data from July 13th to rank the top dining spots in Bismarck for several cuisines and named Little Cottage Cafe, HuHot Mongolian Grill, Fireflour Pizza, Shogun, Charras And Tequila, and Eat Thai Cafe as leaders in their categories. The list covers restaurants within a 10-kilometer radius with at least 50 reviews and uses an adjusted rating system to highlight local favorites.  KX News
