- ➤ A Minot man was sentenced to life in prison without parole for killing Mark McMillan in April 2024 after a drug feud—he now has 30 days to appeal. State leaders approved $100 million to negotiate a natural gas pipeline deal and water experts issued 13 warnings for algae blooms at places like Lake Tschida, Sweet Briar Dam and Patterson Lake. - ➤ The BNSF bridge project team is working on replacing the 140-year-old bridge that carries freight between Bismarck and Mandan. The team will start using a diesel hammer — set to drive piles at piers five and six — next week and will work day and night for at least two months, with part of the River Road Trail on the Bismarck side remaining closed to pedestrians. - ➤ On Monday, August 25, 2025, Sweet Avenue and Indiana Avenue will close at 3rd Street for concrete work with detour routes using 5th Street to Bowen Avenue — then west to 3rd Street for east side traffic and 2nd Street to Bowen Avenue — then east back to 3rd Street for west side traffic. Once these streets reopen, intersections at Bowen and Arbor Avenues will close for about one week for additional concrete work. City of Bismarck
