  • Today in Bismarck, the Touchmark 8th annual car show features over 65 vehicles with each car entry paying a $25 donation to support the Alzheimer’s Association — organizers plan to back health efforts further with the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on October 11, aiming to raise $70,000. This community event brings car lovers together for a fun day that also helps those affected by Alzheimer’s.  KX News

  • A New Town man died on Wednesday afternoon near Four Bears Marina after he missed a curve and hit a fence while riding a dirt bike—his 19-year-old passenger was injured and taken to Trinity Health in Minot.  KFYR-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Nintendo of America partnered with Interstate Scholastic Esports Alliance to boost school gaming competitions across 23 states—providing free memberships and digital game codes to over 80,000 students starting this fall.  KX News
  • Today, experts at the Controlled Environment Agriculture Conference explained how indoor farming helps local growers produce fruits like avocados, mangoes and strawberries year-round in greenhouses at the NetZero facility, and they noted that the technology is already used in Native communities. Meanwhile, Minot State University will use a $5.25 million Bush Foundation grant to expand its special education programs—Bismarck State College students can apply for Metallica Scholars scholarships by Sept. 5.  KX News
  • On Thursday, students returned to class at Light of Christ Catholic Schools in Bismarck, where 1,544 kids are enrolled (up 3% from last year). The district includes five schools, with St. Mary’s High School (398 students) noted as one of the newer centers.  KFYR-TV

  • Today, as students get ready for school, the DEA is urging families to talk about the dangers of drugs, especially those sold on social media. The agency has reported seizing nearly 70 pounds of meth and over 67,000 doses of fentanyl—raising concerns about counterfeit pills.  KX News
