  • The Former Governors’ Mansion State Historic Site will host the Ice Cream Social on August 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. to celebrate 200 years of Nordic culture with free family activities including live music, crafts, and traditional treats — like ice cream with lingonberry topping — and heritage displays that honor immigrant history.  KX News

  • Trilogy LLC, a North Dakota-based company, received a $1 million loan from the Legacy Investment for Technology program to support the commercialization of its Sand Titan oilfield technology—loan terms include 0% interest for the first three years, 2% for the next two years, and standard rates thereafter.  KX News

CRIME NEWS

  • A 20-year-old man pleaded guilty on Wednesday to an attempted murder charge in Bismarck—he was accused of shooting a homeless man in June.  Bismarck Tribune

  • The State Historical Society of North Dakota announced free weekly activities in August at the Former Governors' Mansion State Historic Site at 320 E Avenue B in Bismarck. The schedule features Tie-Dye Coasters on August 5 from 2 to 4 p.m., Paint Day on August 7 from 2 to 4 p.m., Fibers & Flavors on August 9 from 1 to 4 p.m., and Glow Day on August 12 from 2 to 4 p.m., and kids must attend with an adult & daycares and school groups are encouraged to join.  KX News
  • Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library will host Crossings 200 on August 13 at 6:30 p.m. where genealogist Johan Stenslie will share stories, live music, and research tips—celebrating 200 years of Norwegian immigration.  City of Bismarck

  • The NDDEQ is tracking Canadian wildfires that will lower air quality in our state in the coming days — sensitive groups such as those with lung or heart issues, children, and older adults are urged to limit outdoor activity — residents should check local air quality reports for updates.  KX News

  • On July 30, the North Dakota Industrial Commission approved $700K in matching grants for two renewable energy projects. The University of North Dakota got $200K to test new battery parts—while BWR Innovations received $500K to work on using hydrogen, with private funds needed by August 31.  KX News
