- ➤ Sanford Health and Safe Kids Bismarck-Mandan will host a Safety Day from 1 to 5 p.m. on July 22 outside the North Dakota State Capitol building where children learn about safety topics from local agencies—fire, police, health services and more—while enjoying a bounce house and fire truck tour. Additional exhibits will offer helmet fitting, medication use, sound sleep and pet safety tips for families. KX News

- ➤ The North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck will host baseball historian and author Phil S. Dixon as he presents Legacies on the Mound: Black Baseball Players in North Dakota History at 2 p.m. on July 20. The free event will mark the 90th anniversary of the Bismarck Churchills’ win in the National Baseball Congress tournament and include a book signing. KX News

- ➤ Dr. Tom Strinden died July 13 at his family lake house after a 17-month battle with brain cancer while surrounded by loved ones. Funeral plans are pending as his wife, Lt. Gov. Michelle Strinden, and the family grieve — his legacy is remembered for both his medical work and his support of public service. KX News
- ➤ The National Multi-Agency Coordination Group has raised the fire preparedness level to Level 4 due to the peak fire season, and federal, state, local and Tribal partners are set to improve coordination and resource access; local fire weather offices in Bismarck and Grand Forks will provide more detailed forecasts—residents are urged to follow fire safety guidelines.
