  • The Alliance for Automotive Innovation released its report on Q1 EV sales showing North Dakota ranked 50th as EVs made up 1.89% of new light-duty vehicle sales while the state led in public charging with 10 EVs per port—compared to the national average of 30 EVs per port.  KX News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Today, Bismarck workers struggle with mid-90s heat that makes outdoor jobs like painting and drive‑through work very challenging. Some crews are switching to indoor projects and taking breaks in the shade and with water to avoid heat stroke — they warn that the sun dries paint too fast and puts their health at risk.  KFYR-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Agricultural producers who lost crops in 2023 and 2024 can now apply for $16 billion in disaster relief through the SDRP—Stage One sign-ups begin today with prefilled applications mailed and appointments at FSA county offices. Stage Two sign-ups for uncovered losses will start in early fall.  KX News
  • The U.S. Department of Energy released a report this week that warned the power grid could face widespread blackouts by 2030 if a steady baseload supply is not maintained—especially in systems like SPP serving North Dakota, where up to 19% of peak winter demand may be unmet. The report stressed that undervalued coal-based power plants risk grid reliability and higher electric rates when demand surges.  KX News
  • Today, the City of Bismarck launched the Neighborhood Reinvestment Initiative in partnership with Gate City Bank and Capital Credit Union to offer reduced-interest loans for homeowners wanting to update older homes. Homeowners with properties at least 30 years old and valued at $300,000 or less are eligible for loans between $10K and $100K + applications remain open until November 30.  KX News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Sanford Medical Center Bismarck received the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR Chest Pain MI Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2025 for its quality heart attack care, making it one of only 323 hospitals nationwide to earn the honor. Bill Kopp and Dr. Nayan Desai said the award recognized the hospital's strict adherence to clinical guidelines (such as aspirin use and quick restoration of blood flow) during heart attack treatment.  KX News
  • The CDC reported that tick-related ER visits reached record highs this summer with July showing the highest numbers since 2017 in Bismarck — experts from the National Pest Management Association advise residents to wear long, light-colored clothing and remove leaf litter to help reduce tick bites.  KX News
