- ➤ Friends of the Bismarck Public Library will host a summer outdoor used book sale on Friday, July 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library Plaza—books will be sold for $1 per pound and proceeds will support library programs. KX News

EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On July 11, 2025, middle school students from across the state will compete in the National Civics Bee North Dakota State Finals at Chick’s Place, University of Mary in Bismarck. Doors open at 9:00 a.m. with the contest starting at 9:30 a.m. and awards expected at 11:00 a.m.—this event marks a milestone as North Dakota will send its first representative to the national competition in Washington, D.C. - ➤ Applications are now open for those interested in serving on the North Dakota Ethics Commission with a four-year term beginning in September; the deadline to apply is August 8. KX News
- ➤ East Century Avenue reconstruction continues as paving and concrete curb and gutter installation progress along the southern lanes up to Patriot Drive and now through the Roosevelt Drive intersection, while the temporary gravel roadway remains until mid-August—drivers and pedestrians are urged to follow traffic control signs. - ➤ The North Dakota Department of Transportation has announced that local agencies can now apply for the Flexible Transportation Fund — approved by the 69th Legislative Assembly with $116 million to support maintenance. - ➤ Burleigh County Commission began separating the auditor and treasurer roles today—after months of discussion over allegations that current official Mark Splonskowski improperly invested county funds, which he denies. - ➤ Boat accidents causing injury, death or missing persons must be reported to the North Dakota Game and Fish Department within 48 hours and accidents with over $2,000 in property damage within five days.
