COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ CampEd students at Will-Moore Elementary received free produce donated by local farmers through the new Veggie Van. The van is in its pilot phase and will be at the Bismarck Senior Center for three weeks in July—local groups hope it inspires home gardening and healthy meals. KFYR-TV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Bismarck police are investigating a shooting near a church in the 1100 block of South 12th Street after a man was shot while handing out pizza Tuesday night—officers later arrested a suspect now held for attempted murder. KFYR-TV
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ North Dakotans can safely dispose of old, banned pesticides under the Project Safe Send program at 12 state collection sites in July. They must pre-register for more than 1,000 pounds and follow packing instructions — collections will run from 8 a.m. to noon at state sites including Bismarck. KFYR-TV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Attorney General Drew Wrigley said our state will receive $8.7 million from Purdue Pharma as part of a $7.4 billion opioid settlement. The funds may support addiction treatment, prevention and overdose response—local governments may choose whether to join the effort. KFYR-TV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Mandan couple Monroe and Jordan House are beginning an IVF cycle after seven pregnancies ended in loss—Monroe experienced multiple miscarriages and a stillbirth, leaving natural conception as no longer an option. They have launched a fundraiser to help cover the $15,000 to $20,000 cost in a state where insurance does not require fertility treatment coverage. KX News
