- ➤ Two men were taken into custody after they attacked a man on north 31st Street on Monday afternoon—police said one man struck the victim with a wooden club, leaving a large head cut that required hospital treatment, while Joshua Kerzman now faces a felony count for conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and Charles Holzer faces two felony counts including aggravated assault with bond set at $30,000 as police search for a third suspect. - ➤ The North Dakota Game and Fish Department held its deer gun lottery, leaving nearly 3,000 licenses available for unsuccessful resident applicants. Residents can reapply online from July 2 until July 16 while successful winners will have their payments processed and receive licenses in early August—this lottery received over 70,000 applications for 42,300 licenses. - ➤ Following widespread tree damage from a severe storm on June 20, the City of Bismarck’s Forestry Division reminded residents that tree work on any property requires a licensed arborist under ordinance 13-02-05—city crews and Streets Department staff began clearing downed trees while residents are asked to place storm-damaged debris on the boulevard, cut into manageable pieces and kept away from parked vehicles—to help prevent blocked storm drains and reduce flood risk.
