  • A contractor donated a new roof to Tracy’s Sanctuary House in Bismarck after the building’s failing roof needed replacement—Alex Schmidt of Whispering Pines Contracting completed the installation this past weekend to ease a major expense for the non-profit home supporting families during medical crises.  KFYR-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • A 52-year-old woman was arrested in Mandan on June 5th—she was seen trying to fight another woman at a gas station while intoxicated and kicking an officer during her arrest.  KX News
  • Billy Baker, a 36-year-old from Bismarck, pleaded not guilty to an aggravated assault charge after he stabbed a man in the back three times during a May altercation at a house on N. 3rd St.—his bond is set at $50,000 and his trial is scheduled for Aug. 26.  KFYR-TV
  • A 27-year-old woman is facing three felony charges after she allegedly fled a routine traffic stop on University Drive early May 10 and later brought drugs into jail when officers found methamphetamine and fentanyl powder on her—she had previous warrants and is currently out on bond.  KX News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A 68-year-old time capsule was discovered behind the 1957 plaque at old Mandan High School by the Mandan Public School District. The metal case, which holds items like class lists and a superintendent’s report, was on display at the Brave Center on June 10 — and officials plan to create a new time capsule in the future.  KX News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A Bismarck man booked into jail Monday for a traffic warrant is held as an ICE detainee at the Burleigh Morton Detention Center + officials say the facility is now receiving more ICE detainees for longer periods as operations rebound following COVID restrictions. Jail staff are adjusting shifts to manage stays that could extend from days to weeks under new federal requests.  Bismarck Tribune
  • Drug manufacturer AbbVie filed a federal lawsuit against North Dakota over House Bill 1473—a law that requires companies to sell discounted medications under the 340B program. AbbVie said the law is unconstitutional and will hurt its profits—state officials counter that it helps low-income patients get medicine.  Bismarck Tribune
