COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Freedom Maxon, a five-year-old from Bismarck, donated her stuffed animals to the police department to comfort children in distress. Her father said she made similar donations before—last December—and the department now uses these gifts to help kids during emergencies.  KX News
  • Downtown Bismarck now features permanent sidewalk art installations called Movement Mazes created by the city and local artists to brighten public spaces and encourage physical activity. The designs located at Fourth Street and Broadway near the Veterans Memorial Library and at Fifth Street and Broadway include pollinator themes meant to inspire play and conversation.  KFYR-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Delegates at the North Dakota AFL-CIO convention elected Ashley Gaschk as president and secretary-treasurer for a four-year term, replacing retiring president Landis Larson—who served for 40 years. Gaschk, a middle school English teacher in Mandan, said she will work to improve union members' lives and backed federal and postal workers while opposing Medicaid cuts.  KVRR
