COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library is gathering feedback from Bismarck and Burleigh County residents through an online survey open from June 1 until June 30 to improve community activities—responses will help shape the library's future events.  City of Bismarck

CRIME NEWS

  • ND Highway Patrol troopers, Sioux County Sheriff’s Department, and Morton County Sheriff's Deputies pursued a vehicle on Highway 6 at about 10:38 a.m. on Monday that led to a 2012 Chevrolet Avalanche fleeing near 44th St and 27th Ave and off-road along the Heart River west/southwest of Mandan—troopers are now seeking three suspects—one male in a brown shirt, one male in a red shirt or shirtless, and one female in a white shirt and black pants.  KX News
  • Mandan police are asking for help to locate Derryn Siegfried— a 16-year-old girl last seen at 10:30 p.m. on May 31 wearing grey sweatpants and a black shirt and described as about 5’5” tall with shoulder-length black hair and dark brown eyes.  KX News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Camp Hancock State Historic Site will host Weather Day on June 18 from 1-3 p.m. at 101 E Main Ave, offering free science activities like making a tornado in a bottle and story time with Tiffany Towne — the event celebrates the site's past role as the home of Bismarck’s U.S. Weather Bureau station.  KX News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The North Dakota State Board of Higher Education reported it found no evidence that University System employees violated reporting policies related to former senator Holmberg—though it will bring in a third party to complete the investigation, following Holmberg’s March sentencing on federal charges.  KX News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The North Dakota Department of Water Resources received federal approvals under the Clean Water Act and Rivers and Harbors Act to continue the Northwest Area Water Supply project, which will bring Missouri River water to Minot and other communities. The project started in 2002 and will now move forward with construction — a key step for securing long-term water supplies in north-central North Dakota.  KX News
  • The ND Department of Agriculture has given about $204,000 through the Farm to Schools program to local farmers and school districts to boost children's access to homegrown food — an effort to improve child nutrition. Lori Martin of Roving Donkey Farm said the funds will be used to upgrade storage with a new chest cooler and fans — improvements that will help school lunches.  KFYR-TV
