COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Kitty City brought 20 cat kennels when the Alberta Heights fire broke out, helping firefighters rescue about seven to eight cats from the apartments. The organization advises pet owners to microchip animals and offers supplies via a call to (701) 220-4449.  KX News
  • Bismarck’s outdoor pools open Monday, June 1 to offer relief from rising heat and remind parents to supervise children closely. Lifeguards will monitor swimmers and enforce safety rules at these community facilities.  KX News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Crews are expanding the Badlands Learning Center at Home on the Range with a $3 million addition (underway now) that will create new learning spaces for local students.  KFYR-TV
  • State Superintendent Levi Bachmeier and other officials announced a survey today to gather feedback from parents, teachers, and residents on classroom technology use (the survey will run until Aug. 1) to help shape policy for the next legislative session.  KX News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Yegen Road at the airport has intermittent flaggers directing traffic as crews perform chip seal work and install pavement markings. The work will finish by the end of the week and drivers should follow all instructions.  KX News

  • Bismarck High School’s baseball team ends a 10-year state tournament drought after beating Dickinson in a qualifier; they will face West Fargo today in Minot — a milestone for the Demons as they aim for tournament success.  KFYR-TV
