ECONOMY NEWS

  • ND will receive $36 million from the Department of Energy for Crack the Code 2.0 today to use carbon dioxide from coal plants to boost oil recovery from 10 to 12 percent to 25 percent. Four oil companies have invested $76 million as phase one of a $157 million effort.  KX News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The North Dakota Game and Fish Department plans to treat Smishek Lake to remove zebra mussels using EPA-registered EarthTecQZ. Treatments will begin mid-May into June and the lake will remain open for recreation, though the ramp will be closed on treatment days.  KX News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bismarck Parks and Recreation District has named David Leker as its new executive director; he will take over on June 18 after Kevin Klipfel's retirement. Leker brings over 30 years of parks experience from across the state.  KX News
  • A $55 million project will upgrade Dickinson Theodore Roosevelt Regional Airport to welcome visitors arriving for the Presidential Library opening on America’s 250th birthday, while Senator Hoeven explores a veteran home in the northwest and owners say Peacock Alley will close on Saturday, June 13 due to a lease lapse.  KX News

  • Friday Night Frenzy Spring Edition on May 9 showcased local sports with results from baseball, soccer, high-school track, and a golf invitational; teams like the UMary Marauders and Jamestown Blue Jays posted key wins.  KX News
