- ➤ The Great Plains Food Bank announced four 2024 Hunger Relief Champions—two of whom work in Bismarck, including Brenda Janssen from the Regional Distribution Center and Katie Johnke from Bismarck Burleigh Public Health—recognizing their significant contributions to ending hunger. - ➤ Fleet Farm is opening a new 140,000 square foot store at 1025 64th Ave. NE in Bismarck that will feature an auto service center, car wash, live bait station and outdoor garden center + pet wash. - ➤ Retired K-9 handlers Lyle Sinclair & David Cochran taught pet dogs scent tracking at Elevate Canine Academy in Bismarck as they hosted a friendly contest between teams from Bismarck and Fargo. - ➤ Bismarck city officials remind residents and businesses that advertising with any signage is not allowed on boulevard right-of-ways. Violators will face fines up to $1,500 & up to 30 days in jail, and they can report unauthorized signage on the city’s website. KFYR-TV
- ➤ Bismarck Mayor Mike Schmitz is inviting local residents to apply for a volunteer seat on the Civil Service Commission for a 5-year term starting July 1 — the commission advises on personnel matters. - ➤ Attorney General Drew Wrigley said his office will soon release tens of thousands of pages of Ray Holmberg case files—records that include text messages and travel logs—after Holmberg was sentenced to ten years in federal prison, and state Rep. Jeremy Olson resigned on Monday following a withdrawn harassment complaint. Health officials confirmed nine measles cases—four linked to school exposures—and asked those who visited Williston Walmart on April 29 to watch for symptoms while KX Meteorologist Andre Brooks forecast warm, breezy weather today with hotter conditions expected over Mother’s Day weekend.
