The City of Bismarck began its annual Spring Cleanup Week today through April 24—trade data shows North Dakota agricultural exports dropped 12% in the first two months, roughly a $20 million decline with Mexico as the top market. - ➤ North Dakota law enforcement agencies used the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign and issued 134 citations and arrests in March — including 62 DUI charges — in an effort to lower vehicle-related deaths and serious injuries. The NDDOT said alcohol was a factor in 31% of motor vehicle deaths in 2023 and urged drivers to follow safety rules. KX News
- ➤ Bismarck Police cleared officer Nathan Anderson after he shot 53-year-old Melanie Udell on March 7 in south Bismarck—Udell hit him with her car during a DUI investigation and a review by the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation and State’s Attorney Julie Lawyer found the deadly force was justified. - ➤ 71-year-old Mandan massage parlor owner Wiemen Peng pleaded not guilty to charges of promoting prostitution and practicing massage without a license in court today—he was arrested on March 18 after reports said customers paid tips for sexual favors at Relax Body Work Spa, his bond set at $15,000 and his trial scheduled for July 10.
