EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Yesterday, the Senate passed a bill to create education savings accounts for private school students by a vote of 27 to 20. Eligible students will receive deposits based on federal poverty guidelines starting with the 2026-27 school year—details like deposit amount and eligibility remain subject to change pending a House vote—. - ➤ The North Dakota Game and Fish Department has set an idle speed only zone near the Bismarck-Mandan rail bridge project — drivers are urged to slow down for safety. Bismarck Tribune
- ➤ Today, Gov. Armstrong signed a bill that stops the ND Game and Fish Department from banning baiting on private lands when chronic wasting disease is detected. Supporters say the change protects landowners' rights while opponents worry it may weaken efforts to control the disease. KFYR-TV
- ➤ A district court judge ruled that the Northwest Landowners Association had no case against the Industrial Commission over carbon sequestration pipelines and the decision is now being appealed to the state Supreme Court. Attorneys for the Farm Bureau said people should be allowed to challenge government actions affecting their rights — state officials and Basin Electric maintain the ruling aligns with current laws.
