ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A 67-year-old McClusky woman died when her vehicle crossed into the eastbound lane and hit a tractor on Highway 200 Tuesday afternoon—road closures lasted about four hours while the tractor driver was unharmed. KFYR-TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ MPLX donated a LACT Unit to BSC so students can gain hands-on experience with oil industry equipment that measures petroleum products for quality, volume + water content. BSC Energy Instructor Clayton Marcellais said the unit will help students learn about safety, operations and maintenance as they prepare for future careers in the energy field. KFYR-TV
- ➤ Last week, middle school students in western North Dakota took part in the first local National Civics Bee in Minot where they answered questions and submitted a 750-word essay (winners included Clara Z from Ramstad, Ayden H from Central, and MacKayla C from Williston). Ten students advanced to the state competition in Bismarck in July. KFYR-TV

- ➤ Today the Bismarck Human Relations Committee (HRC) announced it has extended the deadline for Humanitarian Award submissions until May 15 due to a rescheduling of its meetings. The awards honor community adults, youth, and organizations that have led efforts in human and civil rights. City of Bismarck
- ➤ The state legislature passed House Bill 1588 on Tuesday which changes the dangerous weapon definition and penalties for possessing one in public places—schools and churches—and removed the ban on binary triggers that some lawmakers had proposed. It now sits on Governor Kelly Armstrong’s desk awaiting his signature. KFYR-TV
- ➤ North Dakota drivers are warned that drug-impaired driving will be a serious risk on April 20 as NDDOT and law enforcement launch the 'If You Feel Different, You Drive Different' campaign urging anyone using impairing substances to plan a sober ride+ call a taxi or rideshare. A study from roadside tests between January 2022 and July 2023 found THC in over half the samples, and 60 certified drug recognition experts are trained to remove dangerous drivers from the road. - ➤ A committee of state lawmakers endorsed a bill on Tuesday that would shift some health insurance premium costs to state employees—if passed, the measure will require employees to pay a portion of their premiums. Bismarck Tribune
