ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A Mandan man died and a Bismarck man was injured when a 44-year-old driver going in the wrong direction hit a Chevrolet Traverse head-on on Interstate 94 near Eckelson Monday afternoon, officials said. KFYR-TV
- ➤ South Bow restarted the Keystone pipeline Monday after an oil spill on farmland north of Fort Ransom forced a shutdown; the operator began a carefully controlled restart (with 24/7 monitoring, reduced pressures, and cleanup procedures) under federal oversight. KX News

- ➤ A Fargo man (with previous meth convictions) was charged after officers found nearly 33 grams of meth during a weekend traffic stop in Bismarck. Bismarck Tribune
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ There are no active wildfires in North Dakota today after crews ended at least eight pop-up fires last week—one near McClusky on April 12th burned about 3,500 acres, injured two firefighters and destroyed a rescue truck. Additional fires in Emmons County were controlled with National Guard help and the Cedar River fire, which burned roughly 9,000 acres and damaged eight outbuildings, was fully contained. KX News

- ➤ Some lawmakers attempted to reconsider their vote on a bill to restrict sexually explicit content in public and school libraries yesterday—efforts that failed with a 50—to—41 vote. The bill now awaits action from Governor Kelly Armstrong. KFYR-TV
- ➤ House lawmakers cleared a backlog by approving several amended bills and sending them to Governor Kelly Armstrong. The packages include one that sets mandatory minimum sentences for human trafficking in district courts—another that expands stalking laws to ban use of drones—and one that could make $1.5 million available for county fair groups. - ➤ A contractor will work on a gas main near Sanford Hospital along 7th Street tomorrow while the far west southbound lane and the west sidewalk between Rosser Avenue — Thayer Avenue will be closed; work is expected to last up to two days if weather permits. City of Bismarck
- ➤ The Bismarck-Mandan MPO will collect public input for its Safety Policy Study at the upcoming Touch-a-Truck event on Main Street in Mandan (admission is free) and will accept written comments until May 31. The study uses the USDOT Safe System Approach to help cut serious transportation injuries and deaths and involves partners from Bismarck, Mandan, Lincoln, Burleigh County, and Morton County.
