ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A fire has burned about 2,000 acres in Emmons and Sheridan Counties so far, with fire units from Goodrich, McClusky, Wing, Wilton, Regan and Mercer County along with the ND Forest Service responding and a Black Hawk sent to Emmons County from the ND Department of Emergency Services while Highway 1804 south of Bismarck remains closed between mile marker 61—Moffit Road—and mile marker 47—63rd Street SW due to heavy smoke and reduced visibility. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The North Dakota Game and Fish Department will hold eight spring public meetings beginning mid-April to discuss issues affecting hunters, anglers and outdoor enthusiasts with input from the public. One meeting in Bismarck will be livestreamed Tuesday, April 22 (from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.) so residents can ask questions directly. KFYR-TV
- ➤ Burleigh County officials presented a new plan for the auditor/treasurer role on Monday that could reshape the office—changing its structure and power dynamics—after a long debate over the position. Bismarck Tribune
- ➤ State senators in Bismarck narrowly voted down House Bill 1283 on Friday after Representative Karen Karls proposed covering the cost of diagnostic breast exams for Public Employees Retirement System members—lawmakers said the measure would raise insurance costs for others and the vote was 22-24. - ➤ Bismarck lawmakers approved Senate Bill 2137 on Friday which lets hunters use up to 50 gallons of bait at one spot on private land—an effort to protect landowners' rights. The bill now goes to the Senate for further review. KX News
