CRIME NEWS

  • Scam callers in North Dakota, first reported in Fargo, pose as police officers to raise money for officer training (they usually ask for a credit card or gift cards) and police urge anyone who receives the call to hang up and contact their local department.  KX News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Joan Hall, an instructional aide at Jeannette Myhre Elementary School, was named the 2025-26 Education Support Professional of the Year by North Dakota United at a ceremony Saturday in Bismarck—earning praise for her patient work with students and colleagues. The union representing over 11,000 public educators made the selection—highlighting the vital role of support professionals in education.  KX News
  • The Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library is celebrating National Library Week (April 6-12) with events that offer public computers, free Wi-Fi, ebooks, and creative programs. Last year, the library welcomed over 250,000 visitors and remains a hub for learning and community connection.  KX News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Earlier this month, a federal judge ended a lawsuit by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe that tried to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline. Senator Hoeven said the pipeline is key for state and national security — it carries over 500,000 gallons of oil every day and helps our local oil industry grow.  KX News
  • Bismarck-area first responders and soldiers will conduct hazardous materials training together this week.  Bismarck Tribune

SPORTS NEWS

  • Four local golf courses will open for the season on Thursday, April 10th, giving residents a chance to play as spring arrives. The Bismarck Parks and Recreation District will open its three courses at noon with tee times available today at 7 a.m. — Mandan Municipal will also open at noon with its pro shop opening April 9th while Prairie West is already open.  KX News
