GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Public Works has rolled out new yard waste drop sites for Bismarck residents starting April 1; drop-offs are available Monday through Saturday from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm, and users must adhere to specific guidelines to prevent service disruptions (no commercial dumping and only accepted yard waste items). - ➤ Metal curb stops are emerging from sidewalks across the city this spring as thawed ground causes them to stick out & create obstacles for pedestrians and vehicles. Bismarck Public Works is on call to lower, repair or replace them, with most costs covered by a monthly utility fee. KFYR-TV
- ➤ Snow falls in Bismarck as the public works department waits for the accumulation to hit four inches so it can start a 12-hour cleanup operation (using 8 motor graders, 8 front-end loaders, and 4 sanders) that will clear emergency routes, schools, and residential streets. KFYR-TV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Health officials confirmed a case of measles in Ransom County that was likely acquired locally (unrelated to the Pembina County outbreak). State reports list 27 cases statewide and five hospitalizations, and officials stress that the MMR vaccine is the best protection. KFYR-TV
