COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Sanford Interpretation Services in Bismarck is offering a specialized language service to help community members bridge communication gaps. The initiative supports access to local services and aims to strengthen connections throughout the city.  KFYR-TV

BUSINESS NEWS

  • At National Day Calendar, media manager Chris Vandeventer now uses artificial intelligence to edit videos faster and produce four videos a day instead of two. The company expects AI tools to free up employees for higher-level tasks.  KFYR-TV
  • Bismarck’s Big Boy now offers a sugar and carb-free version of its signature Hot N’ Tot soda for a limited time. Owner Chad Wachter tested the formula for a year and removed food dye to help avoid blood sugar spikes as he gauges customer reactions.  KFYR-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Mandan Public School Board will vote on March 2 on whether to close Custer Elementary near downtown; if closed, over 100 students and 30 teachers will be relocated with no current plans for the building.  KFYR-TV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The North Dakota Public Service Commission completed the Longspur Wind Farm application review on Wednesday and will soon ask for more details. Minnesota Power plans to build up to 45 turbines north of Glen Ulin along State Highway 49, and a public hearing will be scheduled in the coming weeks.  KFYR-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, the ND Public Service Commission approved a siting permit for a 20-acre battery storage facility by Northern Divide Energy Storage located 10 miles south of Columbus; the project will store up to 100 megawatts from a nearby wind farm and operate by year’s end.  KFYR-TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • American speed skater Jordan Stolz (with local roots) won two gold medals and set Olympic records in the 1,000-meter and 500-meter events at the Winter Olympics. His achievements bring pride to our community and highlight his North Dakota connection.  KFYR-TV
